Greene-Hazel Insurance Group was founded in 1984 by Tom Hazel and Theresa Greene. Both partners started their insurance careers with Liberty Mutual in 1969 and worked for 15 years in the Independent Agency arena, eventually, elevating their careers to Assistant Vice Presidents for world-wide broker, Marsh & McLennan.
In 1984 they decided to take the plunge from corporate employee to entrepreneur. A leap of faith, strong insurance carrier relationships and loyal customers catapulted them from a one employee small business into one of the largest, locally owned, independent agencies in Northeast Florida. Their current staff of 40 produce over $80 million in written premiums and provide a full service venue for their customers. Greene-Hazel offers insurance for their customers business exposures, personal home and auto exposures, employee benefit needs, surety bonding as well as life and financial planning expertise.
The organization has grown both organically and through acquisition of other agencies and continues to seek growth opportunities through partnerships and mergers . With the next generation, Chip Greene, now heading the organization, coupled with the experience and technical expertise of co-founder, Theresa Greene Hazel, the agency is poised for even greater success.
